About Us

We offer a secure and safe environment with owner predominately residing and working on property.

Our Team:

Ted

Pertaringa Park was purchased by Ted and Marg in 1982 and started out as a superfine  merino sheep property (still running 200-300 ewes today). Ted has been actively working in the animal health and husbandry sector for the past 53 years. Ted also worked at CSIRO as the manager of the animal research facility; all while farming and vastly improving the then barren land. Once leaving work in town Ted and Marg started a business in ostrich and emu chick raising and incubation.

In 1999 Ted decided to change from ostrich farming to horse agistment, and hasn’t looked back since.

Ted’s vision of the property as a dynamic horse agistment facility drives him to further research the best practices and facilities available, thus making it an ever growing and improving place for you to enjoy your equine friend.

Facilities:

Tree lined private 1, 1 ½ and 2 acre paddocks, each with open shelters with woodchip bedding, includes a lockable personal tack / food storage room. Shared paddocks with double shelters and double tack storage rooms.

Paddocks are divided in half and together with strip grazing, this allows for spelling and hence good rejuvenation for best pasture productivity. This practice allows for fresh grass to be offered regularly and helps avoid stale and run down paddocks. Soil and pastures are monitored for weed contamination/fertility to maximise production. A regular pasture renovation program is also standard practice. Our aim is to provide sustainable agistment with supplementary feeding and paddock spelling to maintain healthy horses and healthy pastures.

Easy access on good driveways to all paddocks (with personal parking), which are superbly fenced with electric fencing. Automatic water troughs throughout that are checked regularly.

Secure float parking

“State of the art” stable complex with timed night lights, undercover grooming and service area and “hot and cold” horse wash.
60 x 25m flood lit, red gum-woodchip arena, strategically placed amongst native vegetation. The woodchips are placed on filter sand and a geotechnical matting which ensures excellent drainage and the best ergonomic surface available providing ideal suspension.
